About
Teapot & Tumble is a play café in Portishead, created with families in mind and designed to be a place both children and adults genuinely enjoy spending time.
We’ve designed a calm, welcoming environment for children under five to play, explore and imagine, while parents and carers can relax, connect and enjoy being there. Our play area is engaging without being overwhelming, and sits alongside a high‑quality neighbourhood café that’s open to everyone.
Our aim is to sit comfortably between busy, overstimulating soft play and overly curated “quiet” spaces; offering something that’s playful but calm, welcoming but practical, and thoughtfully balanced for both adults and children. Whether you’re visiting for a play session, calling in for a coffee, or meeting friends, we hope Teapot & Tumble feels like a place you want to return to.
Play
Our play space is for children under five, with a focus on free, imaginative play in a calm and comfortable environment. We’ve chosen simple, open‑ended play that encourages curiosity without feeling overstimulating.
Play sessions are booked in advance and carefully capped, which helps keep the space relaxed and allows time for the play area to be cleaned and reset between sessions.
The space includes a mix of soft play, role play and age‑appropriate toys, suited to babies, younger children and older toddlers. There are places for grown‑ups to perch nearby, put down a drink, and stay comfortably part of what’s going on.
During play sessions, drinks and snacks can be ordered at the café counter. Simply pop down to order and we’ll bring everything over to you once it’s ready, so you can get straight back to enjoying your time together.

Visit
Teapot & Tumble is on Portishead High Street, with a café at the front and a dedicated play space behind.
Play sessions take place at set times and are booked in advance, helping the space stay comfortable for families visiting to play. The café is open throughout the day and is a place to meet friends, get out and about in a child‑friendly space, or stop by for a takeaway drink or snack, whether or not you are booked into a play session.
We are based in a traditional high‑street building, and we prioritise keeping the space easy to move around, with room for children to play safely and for both the café and play areas to remain accessible. To support this, buggy space inside is limited, and where possible we recommend arriving without a buggy to help keep the space comfortable for everyone.
There is some nearby street parking, and we aim to make visits feel welcoming and familiar, whether you are staying for a while or just calling in; somewhere you want to return to for a play session, a party, or a brilliant coffee and doughnut.

Simple, calm celebrations for little ones, with a relaxed experience for grown‑ups too.
Celebrate your child’s special day with exclusive use of Teapot & Tumble for 2 hours. There’s plenty of time for play, food and a relaxed celebration together. Our parties are designed to feel calm, welcoming and easy.
You’re very welcome to bring your own food and cake, along with anything you may need, keeping things simple and relaxed. Our café counter will remain open throughout your party for drinks.
Introductory launch price of £215.00 for up to 15 children
Additional children are £10 each (maximum 20 children)

To help us arrange staffing, parties should be booked at least one month in advance. If you're hoping to book at shorter notice, please email us and we'll always do our best to accommodate your request, subject to availability.
